Happy New Year!

I started looking back through all of my 2011 pictures for a big end of the year post, and realized there are a ton of awesome pictures I never even blogged, and many more from events I did blog, but couldn’t fit in the posts. The busier I am shooting, the less time I have to blog, so in that way it was a great year in 2011. I got to work with so many great people, and be a part of so many great moments. I will have plenty of great blog material to get through the winter.

Here are a few from Jen and Ryan’s engagement session in the fall. We walked around some of their favorite spots in the city, starting at the Olympic Sculpture Park, and then heading over to Gasworks Park. Their wedding also happens to be my first one of 2012 later this month, (somewhere in the Caribbean, and requiring a passport

Tiffany and James in the cold november rain…

Here are some gorgeous portraits I got of Tiffany and James a couple weeks ago. The weather on their wedding day was about as bad as you could ask for, a rainy/dark/cold November afternoon in Seattle. But when you have a great couple to work with, and know some lighting tricks, you can get pictures that look like this

A lot of brides and grooms worry about rain on the wedding day, but I never do. I just say grab some cute umbrellas and have fun with it if the rain comes. There is no reason you can’t get great pictures if you are willing to get out there!

You might also wonder how Tiffany kept her dress from getting filthy standing on train tracks covered in wet dirty leaves…. Well I was prepared for that as well. I always bring a little piece of canvas that makes a perfect little platform to protect the dress

Ravens

Here’s a few shots from the Raven’s game. It was nice to see the Hawks beat a good team. It was a pretty intense and exciting game from start to finish. There was also a pre-game card stunt in tribute to Veterans Day, which was fun to see. The guy in charge was standing next to me and was pretty nervous about how it would look with all the empty seats of late arriving fans during the national anthem, but it ended up looking pretty good even with the holes.

Despite the hard fought and violent football contest, Ray Lewis shows there are no hard feelings and chats with friends on the Seahawks.

A few shots from Alex and Bonnie’s recent wedding. I’ve been lucky to shoot a few really fun non-traditional weddings this year. First of all, a red dress…. How cool is that! We met at Volunteer Park to start the day, and then drove around to some of their favorite places in Seattle for the bride and groom portraits. After that, we continued on to the ceremony/reception at the Mt. Baker Community Clubhouse.
