Happy Blue Friday everyone! It was great to be back on the field with the Seahawks again a few weeks ago. It should be another great year with such a talented team out there. The story of the game (other than rainy football August wtf…) was definitely the debut of Tyler Lockett. He looked faster than anyone on the field, and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Percy who?

Flying sea gal…

This guy will be fun to watch this year.

I had a great time shooting Matt & Natalie’s recent wedding. The ceremony was held at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Seattle. After a quick stop at QFC to re-stock beverages on the Party Bus, we visited Volunteer Park for some wedding party portraits, then headed on to the reception at the Columbia Tower Club downtown.

Recent pictures from a wedding at the Golf Club at Newcastle. This is a perfect example of why you should pray for rain on your wedding day 🙂 Those skies! It’s funny, I remember as a young photographer I stressed so much about the weather being just right. Worrying about all the external things out of my control that would influence pictures. But after many years of doing this you learn how to make the best of all the typical challenges you face as a wedding photographer in Seattle.
Newcastle is always a great venue to shoot at. No matter the weather, you can always get good pictures in at least one spot. The tent of course, looks great for ceremonies, and provides shelter from wind and rain. And the Golf Course always looks great, even under stormy skies with all of that green! When the weather is sunny, and the sky is clear, it’s probably one of the best views around with the lakes and city skylines in the distance.
Another fun part of shooting this wedding was witnessing all of the great Persian Wedding Ceremony Traditions. You can see the beautiful buffet of sweets spread out on the table in front of the bride and groom during the ceremony. Persian weddings also feature a sweet, some by say sexy even 😉 tradition of the bride and groom each feeding one another a taste of honey from one of their fingers. This always makes for a great picture!
One of my other favorite shots, that basically illustrates the life and times in which we currently live, is the 3 dudes with their cell phones out shooting pictures. They were totally oblivious to the fact that I was shooting a picture of them as well. People often think they need photographer’s to have second shooters at their weddings. However I’ll let you in on a little secret. There will be about 40 assistant photographers toting cell phones, so not much will be missed 😉

Here’s one of my favorite weddings from last year at Storybook Farm in Redmond (recently featured on Stymepretty.) Stefanie and Amar were great to work with, and really did everything right. Aside from their great taste in photography 😉 they hired an awesome planner, Kirstie from Simplywed who coordinated and designed everything. Rain or shine, of which we had a little of both that day, everything looked amazing.

A few shots from Melissa & Mike’s wedding at Sole Repair in Capital Hill. Megan from Clutch Events did an awesome job coordinating and planning their beautiful wedding. Sole Repair is a great venue for a small to medium size wedding, and has a great urban/Capitol Hill vibe. It even comes with a bouncer!

4 Seasons Hotel Seattle Portrait Session
Dave & Gina commissioned me to take some portraits during their romantic Anniversary getaway in downtown Seattle. The 4 Seasons Hotel is an amazing spot for pictures being right on the Seattle Waterfront. The sky and great wheel look cool in almost any type of weather! The light in the guest rooms is not bad either as you can see!

Very excited to announce that the website update is finally complete. We started with a different designer in October, and after a couple painful month of troubleshooting, decided to scrap everything and go another way in December. The good news is, we’re just about done, and the new design will enable some super cool new features.
This engagement session never made it to the blog, despite being one of my favorites from last year. We cruised around Ballard a little bit, and shot a few in front of the restaurant where they had their first date. I love it when we can incorporate personal touches or history to portrait shoots. After walking around Ballard for a bit, we headed down to Golden Gardens Beach Park for a little sunset portrait session near the water.

Here’s a few timely 🙂 pictures from yesterdays win against the Cardinals. It was kind of a must-win game, so great to see a good result. Hopefully it will be the start of a late season winning streak!

Here are a few from last weekend. It was most exhilarating, the Raiders of Oakland took on the Seahawks of Seattle, and the Seahawks triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin though a giant H. It was a most gripping victory!
